NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams: Review and Swatches

Hey guys! I'm so excited for this post. A few posts ago, I did a Drugstore Makeup Haul and I promised I would review these lip creams, so here I am! These are the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams, which have quickly become some of my favorite lip products among my collection. NYX have an amazing range to choose from, and even better, they just added new shades to the collection (which look absolutely gorgeous!)

Before I get to the actual review, here are the new shades they added in case you are interested.

I can't wait to get my hands on some of these, especially the top four shades, how gorgeous are they?

NYX describes these as something in-between a lipstick and a gloss, which is completely true! They have a great creamy feel to them when you first apply them, but once they dry down, they turn into a matte finish. They feel super comfortable on the lips, with a nice velvety texture. Their name pretty much describes them, am I right? Plus, they actually have a pleasant scent to them!

These lip cream apply on quite easily and really nicely, although for the darker shades, I found that two or more coats were needed for a nice dark color pay-off. The greatest thing about them is that no matter how many coats you apply, they always feel comfortable on the lips. It really doesn't even feel like you have anything on! I don't need to scrub my lips or even put lip balm on before applying the lip creams, and they still look great. The only bad thing I have to say about these is that after a few hours they tend to settle in the fine lines of your lips, which gives off a dry lip look.

The color stays on for most of the day for me, until I start eating, then it rubs off in the inside of my lips. However, if I don't end up eating anything when I have these on, they do stay put and last nicely throughout the day.

Here are the shades I have at the moment, but let the world know, I will definitely be buying more of these!

London - A mid-tone beige: 

Istanbul - A clean pink:

San Paulo - A plummy-pink: 

Transylvania - A matte deep violet:

I think San Paulo is my favorite out of these four, just because it looks good with my skin tone. After that comes Istanbul, my second most wearable shade. I love how neutral London is, just as much as I love how Transylvania makes such a statement! You really can't go wrong with these.

Overall, I would 10/10 recommend these lippies. They would be a great addition to anyone's lip product collection at such an affordable price. Plus, with all the available shades, you'll definitely find one (or five) you love!
